About us
A Bioimaging Data Curation Center (BDCC) is a specialized research center for improving image quality and promoting the reuse
of bioimaging data registered at KOREA-BioData Station (K-BDS), a national biodata repository.
The primary aim of BDCC is to ensure that the vast amounts of data generated through various imaging techniques in the field of life science are organized,
standardized, and made accessible and reusable for analysis and research purposes. BDCC is established by a consortium of imaging teams
from four institutions(optical imaging group of Ewha Womans University, electron microscopy and optical fusion imaging group of Korea Basic Science Institute,
MR imaging group of Korean Brain-MRI Data Center, and super multiplex imaging group of Korea advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
BDCC supports the quality control and curation of bioimaging data to meet FAIR (findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability) principles.
To this end, the research project teams plan to achieve the following:
The establishment of the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for the production, analysis, and interpretation of image data;
the establishment of a customized research consulting platform; curation to improve the quality of bioimaging data;
construction of large-scale data through the active upload of K-BDS data; and the advancement of a leading platform for image quality enhancement.
Bioimaging advanced Platform (BioiAP) is a public open platform which is operated by BDCC.
BioiAP provides bioimaging community with standardized protocols as a standard operating procedure (SOPs) for sample preparation, data collection, storage, annotation, and analysis.
SOPs help ensure that image data from different labs and from a variety of imaging modalities can be effectively analyzed, information-rich, and reusable.
The platform also offers valuable program information for researcher to produce and analyze image data.
BDCC develops an index for image quality estimation and a program to evaluate images quantitatively and qualitatively.
BDCC fosters collaboration among scientists by providing a platform where researchers can share data, exchange ideas, and work together on projects that involve bioimaging data.
In essence, Bioimaging Data Curation Center and Bioimaging advanced Platform serve as a vital bridge between the generation of raw bioimaging data
and their effective reuse in scientific researches.
They ensure that bioimage data are of high quality, well-documented, and readily available for scientists to advance their understanding of biology and related fields.

다양한 연구 분야에서 중요성이 증대되고 있습니다. 이는 2000년대 초반에 생체안에서 일어나는 변화를 분자와 세포수준에서 측정하기 위한
분자영상(Molecular imaging)의 개념이 설립되면서, 분석장비와 기법의 발전으로 기초생명과학 뿐 아니라 진단 및 치료를 위한 의학에
필수적인 기술로 진화하고 있습니다.
바이오이미징데이터 품질선도센터(Bioimaging Data Curation Center, BDCC)는 2022년부터 과학기술정보통신부 국가생명연구자원 선진화사업의 지원을 받는 기관으로 국가바이오데이터스테이션 (KOREA-BioData Station, K-BDS)에 등록되는 바이오이미지 데이터의 검색, 접근, 상호운용성, 재사용(FAIR, findable accessible interoperable and reusable)의 최적화를 위한 데이터의 품질관리 및 평가를 위한 기관입니다.
BDCC는 이화여자대학교 광학영상팀, 한국기초과학지원연구원 전자현미경 및 차세대융합영상팀, 동국대학교 의과대학 한국인 뇌 MR 데이터 센터, 한국과학기술원 다중형광 및 초고배율 영상팀으로 구성되어 있으며, 추후에 다른 영상기법(modality)으로 확대하고자 합니다. BDCC는 고품질 바이오이미지의 생산/분석/활용을 위하여 사용자들에게 도움이 될 수 있는 표준운영절차(Standard Operation Procedure, SOP)를 만들어서 배포하고 사용자들이 생산한 바이오이미지의 품질을 자체 평가 할 수 있는 영상전문 커뮤니티를 제공하고자 합니다. 이를 위하여 Bioimaging advanced Platform (BioiAP, https://www.bioiap.org)을 만들게 되었습니다.
BioiAP 플랫폼은 BDCC에서 운영되는 공개 사이트입니다. 작성 중인 SOP와 개발 중인 이미지 품질 자체 평가 모듈을 지속적으로 업데이트할 예정입니다. 사용자 등록 (ID와 PS 생성)을 하시면 SOP를 자유롭게 다운로드 받으실 수 있으며, 다양한 바이오이미징 정보를 제공받을 수 있습니다. BioiAP 플랫폼이 바이오이미징 기법에 관심을 갖고 있는 연구자들의 커뮤니티가 되고자 지속적인 노력을 기울이겠습니다.
